An annual BRPA tradition was born on this trip as we enjoyed ideal summer weather, warm water and that magical feeling of effortlessly floating down the original route through our Baraboo Bluffs.

We also were treated to a rare sighting of Joe Van Berkle on the river in his red canoe as he paddled upstream to meet us just west of the Highway 12 bridge. Joe is the retired Sauk County Conservation Department head who was instrumental in keeping the river clean and removing the former dams.

Here are a few pictures of the meal we shared at the city of Baraboo's Greg Wise shelter in their Maxwell Potter Conservancy, which is a sweet spot on a warm summer evening. We celebrated Dr. Karen Mesmer's birthday with cake and music. Thanks to Rob Nelson for entertaining us by letting folks try his recumbent bike.
